Having never met before...
2014 Art Basel program, the Art of Collaboration. Originally from China, DALeast’s work most often features ribbons of unraveling images that are usually animal or human forms. Cryptik’s work usually features depictions of spiritual leaders, such as the Dalai Lama and Ghandi along with calligraphy he created, which he has described as a combination of ancient scripts such as Sanskrit, Hebrew, Arabic and Hindi with a twist of gang graffiti/cholo writing.
The mural they created combines their styles perfectly. In colors of black, gold, and silver, the mural conveys a sense of enlightenment. The undulating pattern of Cryptik’s signature calligraphy in the background sublimely highlights DALeast’s golden ribbon images commonly associated with eastern philosophy.
In addition to their mural together, both DALeast and Cryptik have murals in the Wynwood Doors.
