History Book

Three years into building the Wynwood Walls as an international destination, Goldman Properties is releasing a new book about the project for Art Basel Miami 2011. The limited-edition book, The Wynwood Walls and Doors, features exclusive texts by Tony Goldman, the man behind the vision, and Jeffrey Deitch, curator and director of The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, whose recent MOCA exhibition Art in the Streets broke attendance records. The book features photographs by Subway Art luminary Martha Cooper and artists texts by Ethel Seno, editor of Taschen's Trespass: A History of Uncommissioned Urban Art.

Dedicated to all the artists who contributed to the making of the Wynwood Walls, the Wynwood Doors and Outside the Walls, the book is a must-have for anyone interested in the ground breaking mural project. The Wynwood Walls and Doors provides insight into its creation and the principles that guided it. It is a testament to the uniqueness of the project, the passion of its creators, the receptiveness of the community, and the diversity of the artists who shared their visions. Interviews with the participating artists about their site-specific works and experiences in Wynwood provide the basis for the artists texts that bring to light things that we would not have otherwise known about the works we see.

Additional introductions by Joey Goldman and Jessica Goldman Srebnick, and an afterward by Janet Goldman demonstrate the spirit of the vision behind the Wynwood Walls.
